Automotive cables are often PVC-coated.

Advantages

PVC has great advantages, because it holds a high level of additives that provide excellent thermal and electric insulation properties, high resistance to water, chemical agents (acids and bases), oils and hydrocarbons, besides high flexibility. It is also a product with excellent cost-benefit ratio.

Manufacturing Process

Wires and cables are manufactured by extrusion process, which can provide excellent insulation for metallic  core or for cables sheaves.
