INJECTION MOLDING
In this molding technique, PVC is injected at high pressure in a mould. The mould is kept at a pre-determined temperature while the polymer cools. Afterwards, the halves are opened and the final article is taken off. For smaller parts, many moulds are assembled in a machine, and the molten PVC is injected simultaneously in all of them.
Injection molding may produce more complex articles than extrusion, but it is not a continuous process. The products obtained are in their final shape and may be rigid or flexible, compact or expanded.
Blow injection molding provides hollow products.
With co-injection process, it is possible to manufacture products such as rigid frames (metallic or polymeric), putting them into the mould before final injection.
